Searching for the lightest e‑bike with a throttle is really searching for two things at once: something light enough to carry, and something that moves without pedaling. A throttle is not what makes an e‑bike heavy

The throttle itself is a small part on the handlebar. It is not what moves a bike from 39 lb to 62 lb. What actually adds the weight is the package a throttle usually travels with.

Riding on throttle alone draws more power for the same distance than riding on assist, because none of the work is coming from your legs. Bikes built around throttle use therefore tend to carry more battery, and battery is heavy. One caution about comparing these figures: the numbers above are not all measured the same way. Lectric publishes both a ride‑ready weight and a battery‑out weight, and those differ by roughly 8 lb on the same bike. If you want the feel of a throttle without the weight

Plenty of riders who search for a throttle are really describing a symptom: the assist on some bike they tried felt delayed or wooden, and the throttle was the workaround. That is a sensor question more than a throttle question.

A torque sensor measures how hard you press and scales the motor to match, which is why bikes built around one feel like a stronger version of your own legs. Product pages are not consistent about this, so check the wording rather than the marketing:

Weight‑first. If the bike has to come up stairs, onto a wall hook, or into a car boot regularly, that is a daily physical cost and it should win. At 39 to 41 lb you are choosing between torque‑sensor bikes that are unlikely to offer a throttle, and you should plan to pedal away from every stop.

The upside is that the same design decisions that add the weight also add range and carrying capacity, which is the whole reason those bikes exist.
